Isn’t this a lovely photo?
Does it call to mind decades of wonderful family summers on Tiny’s beaches…enjoyed by everyone in the Township?
Do you believe that’s something worth saving?
If so, please help us: we have until Feb. 9, 2009 to save an endangered Tiny Beach from private clutches!
We at Ardmore Beach Community Association agree that all of Tiny’s beaches are worth fighting for…for all of us in Tiny!
And, right now, another one is at risk: The spectacular Georgian Bay shoreline in the neighbourhood of the 17th Concession, LaFontaine.

Remember that 2-step beachfront privatization process we explained on this website? Well, the owners of 1592 Tiny Beaches Rd. North have surveyed the glorious Georgian Bay shoreline in front of their property to the water’s edge (Step 1) and are now applying to the County of Simcoe to grab that precious public playground all for themselves – called Absolute Title! (Step 2)
Their property is north of the concession road and just south of a public beach. If they are successful, it will cut off public access to the beach.
Once again, we are asking for your help!
If you or anyone you know has historically enjoyed the beach near Concession 17 and you wish to object to the application:
- contact Gary Skabernicky (tergar@hotmail.com) Gary is a director of our association and he can help.
- Talk to everyone you can – spread the word! Anyone who has used that beach continuously can object.
- All those who want to object need to prepare a notarized affidavit attesting to their “traditional, historical use and enjoyment” of that beach. (Include dated photos, like the one above, if possible.) (Click here for instructions on creating an affidavit.)
- The deadline for filing your affidavit claim of historical use is Feb. 9 – if there are no objections by that date, that precious beach is lost to us all!
- The property owners’ plan for Change of Title is available for inspection at the Land Registry Office, Simcoe No. 51 Courthouse, 114 Worsley St., Barrie.
- Click here for instructions on where to file the affidavit
This is the first application for beach privatization in Tiny…Don’t let beachfront property owners get away with it…Don’t let them grab our beaches!
